Canvas Hearts

I found these 5" square canvas blocks at a garage sale and picked them up for a total of $2.00. I spray painted them. Then I cut out two hearts from each patterned paper. I modpodged one to each canvas and then I scored the second one and hot glued it to the first heart along the folded edge, matching up the prints. That is all there was to it. I was inspired by this project at Pinterest.

Here is a link to the inspiration.

Lamp Makeover

I found two of these lamps at a garage sale. They pretty much looked like some that my mom had when I was growing up--very 70's or 80's. At first I didn't think much about them, but then I thought to myself, I think they have potential. I have a tiny bit of rewiring lamp experience and thought the challenge would be fun. So I took them home. Took them completely apart--which was much easier than it sounds. Just make a diagram, if necessary, so you can remember how to put them back together. Next, I completely washed and dried the lamp parts. Then I took all the gold metal parts and primed them and then spray painted them with 3-4 coats of enamel spray paint. I found a couple of new lamp shades that I would eventually like to make little skirts for, but in the meantime they are pretty cute. I love my new lamps!

Recycled Down East Tags

I love these tags that come on the clothes at Down East. I love everything from the gray polka dotted print to the cute twill tape and even the fun little safety pins that they use to attach them to their clothes. One day I was looking at them and I thought that I could recycle them into gift tags. Using Photoshop, I made a little rectangle that included a greeting. I sized it so that it covers the Down East logo. I had them printed and then I cut them out and stitched them on. Then I cut flowers out of scrapbook paper and attached them and added a pom pom for the flower's center. Cheap, and I think they are pretty cute.
